A quick decision maker

Some choices do not deserve a long debate. Should you order dessert? Watch one more episode? Go for a run now or later? Ask your question, spin the yes or no wheel, and let chance decide. It is a light-hearted way to break a tie or get unstuck.

The wheel starts with one "Yes" and one "No" slice, so each answer has a 50% chance. You can change the odds by adding more entries: add "Yes" twice to make yes more likely, or add "Maybe" and "Ask again" for a more playful version.

Fun ways to use a yes or no wheel

Use it as a party game where each player asks a silly question, in class as a quick warm-up, or on a stream to let chance decide a challenge. Some people use it as a coin flip replacement when they want something more visual than heads or tails.

For important decisions, use the wheel as a gut check: if you feel disappointed by the answer, that tells you what you really wanted.

Frequently asked questions

Is it a 50/50 chance?

Yes, with the default "Yes" and "No" entries each answer has an equal 50% chance. Adding more entries changes the odds in proportion to how many slices each answer has.

Can I add "Maybe" to the wheel?

Yes. Type "Maybe" on a new line in the entries box. You can add any answers you like.

Is the result really random?

Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser's built-in cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) before the wheel starts turning. Every entry has exactly the same chance, and the spin animation simply shows that result.

Is the yes or no wheel the same as flipping a coin?

With two entries it gives the same 50/50 odds as a fair coin flip, but it is easier to watch, and you can customise the answers.
